The bulb hung,
dangling low enough
for temptation
and radiant enough
in the gloom.
The scarred glass
suspends from the ceiling;
the black ocean.
We are the fish, healing
with teacups,
ignoring
the gloom above that waits
for one of us
to finish our lunch plates
and be the prey.
It wants us
hypnotized in dreamland
lost in a daze
under its rough command,
being pulled
by its tormenting bulb.
